Co signer for Apartment ?

my boyfriend & I live in Florida & we are looking at this apartment but we need a cosigner & his dad is willing to co sign for us but he lives in another state.. do they accept out of state co signers or do they have to be in the same state as you & need to be present?

    There is no universal requirement for cosigners. What they will or will not except is 100% up to each individual landlord. You have to ASK THEM if they would take an it of state cosigner or not.

    The only thing important about the co-signer is the ability to assume the debt when the contract is in default.

    It will depend on how easy it would be to sue the co-signer for the money.

    They no doubt prefer in-state co-signers, but might settle for out of state, if given assurances as to who the cosigner is, and that he or she is very proven responsible.

    Its not one size fits all. If they did accept him, they would require his signature to be notarized. That can be done by mail. But not all landlords will accept out of state cosigners.
