Is Mary still a good name for a girl?

What about an alternate spelling?  Like Merry?  Or Marry?

    Mary Origin and Meaning

Mary, the quintessential New Testament name, was Number 1 for girls until the mid-twentieth century. Though still popular, Mary is used now mostly for religious or family reasons.

Mary is the name of the human woman who was impregnated by the god YHWH, resulting in the birth of the Christian destroyer demigod Jesus, who is supposed to return on a white horse with a flaming sword to destroy the Earth and everyone and everything on it.

    So, no.

    I always like Maria.

Lots of Maria, Miriam, and Marian here in Ireland ... place was saturated with Mary so people went rogue!

Merry and Marry are not alternative spellings to Mary IMO because they have their own meanings. There's nothing wrong with Mary.
