You're ago is ONE consideration. If you're under about 40 AND you see this for no more than two days, don't sweat it, but phone your doctor. He could order a urine test of some antibiotics.  If the blood was found in a blood test,  LISTEN TO YOUR DOCTOR.  BTW, smoking causes bladder cancer. Bladder cancer caused traces of blood in urine.

Yes, any sign of blood in the urine is significant. Normally, you won't actually see the blood. It is usually mixed into the urine and might make it look a bit "cloudy", or simply just a slight tinge of pink. Blood in the urine is often unnoticed. If you actually see the blood, it is already an important sign of illness such as bladder infection, kidney infection, bladder or kidney stones. Consult with the doctor's office who will give you the best advice, in order to avoid further damage and/or illness.

Maybe, but not likely....it should be checked out.   It may indicate an infection, injury, tumor, or high blood pressure.
