When a cherry has a defect, do you throw the cherry out, eat the "good" half of the cherry, or eat the whole cherry and hope for the best?

I have several cherry trees on my property.....and when I pick them, I pick the best.  Any sign of insect holes.........I just chuck those.  There's 1000's,  so I can be picky.
