Is being an atheist and believing in the big bang a mental illness?
Theories about the creation of the universe are just as outlandish as religion.

Dear lord, all the things people want to be mental illness! I'm just going to copy-paste an answer I wrote JUST now, to an equally stupid question. Because it's the exact same stupid sh*t.
Theism is not a mental illness.
Atheism is not a mental illness.
Anti-theism is not a mental illness.
Agnosticism is not a mental illness.
Almost none of the things that so many people on here WANT to label as mental illness..? Are actually mental illness! And also..? Mental illness is not an insult / slur! Which has become a MAJOR pet peeve of mine! People treating it as such! It should make no more sense to say that than someone saying: "you f*cking diabetic!", as a supposed slur! Like... just shrug it off, and say: "no, I'm not."
You want to know about actual mental illness, and all the various diagnoses that are considered as such? There are plenty of diagnostic manuals for that! Do recommend, if you're so inclined.

They don't give away Nobel prizes in science without convincing evidence..

The Big Bang - that the universe had a beginning - is a reasonable conclusion from both science and theology and is not at all “outlandish “ or a mental problem.
What we argue about is the best explanation of cause.

Outlandish as religion?
Please learn what a scientific theory is. They are backed by evidence. Religion is just childish fairy tales...
