Restarting and going for a PH.D. at 33. Good idea? Or am I sacrificing to much at that age; family, socializing, friends, fun, etc.?

My married nephew is doing that right now. He is  36 and is finish with his Masters and into his Doctorate degree. He wants to teach at a university. He thinks it is worth the sacrifice. He will have many years as a professor.

What to you want in the end? What is your goal.

Seems pretty obvious given all that we know about you, doesn't it?

It's clearly the same answer for every 33 year old.  I'm surprised you don't just look it up.  There is probably a website that tells you the age in which going back for a given degree or certification isn't worth it anymore.
