The Path of the Higher Self has been among the most helpful.

    Slaughterhouse-Five was good in adolescence.

The Great Divorce is a perennial favorite.

In a Sunburned Country has been a relaxing, humorous read.

The Code of the Woosters and other novels by P. G. Wodehouse give a calming security.

I don't read much for leisure but one I read a long time ago was The Ronin. It's an Enghlish translation of a 2000 year old Japanese folk tale about a wayward samurai that loses his master.

When I finished, I just sat silently for 30 minutes stunned in awe. The wisdom and insight about the nature of mankind blew me away.
