Does the Bible reveal how long ago God created the universe, or does it explain how he created it?

It certainly does. Adam and Eve were created 'at the beginning of Creation'.
The genealagies indicate that Adam and Eve lived around 6000 years ago.
He created it by speaking, through his son Jesus Christ, the Word of God.

The Bible does not reveal how long ago God created the universe nor does it explain how he created it. We are told what he created and the order in which he created things including man.

The Creation of mankind is all documented in the very first book of the Bible, Genesis, starting at chapter one verse 1, and it is extremely interesting so you might enjoy reading it. Do you have a Bible? God is our Creator and although it doesn't say exactly WHEN God created this world and universe and everyone and everything in it, it does say HOW. God is very powerful so all He needed to do was to SPEAK this world into existence. He said words such as, "Let there be light" and light came, and so on. The Lord always does everything decently and in order, so He, for reasons known best to Himself, created something different every day for 6 days and then rested on the 7th Day because he was very pleased and saw that everything was very good, but you go and read it for yourself, I think you will enjoy it.

By Bible chronology this year is 5781 AM, Anno Mundi. Year of the World.
According to Jewish reckoning, the date Adam & Eve were created in the Garden of Eden was October 7, 3761 BC. The modern Jewish New Year is based on this date.
Hebrews 11:3 KJV — Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.

The Bible only says, "God said, 'Let there be"...". And it was there. The Bible also describes a thoughtfully designed and organization creation, taking days to accomplish.
Imagine that you are a super computer programmer and are given a quantum computer to design an artificial world. You create characters who have artificial intelligence themselves. These characters believe they have free-will, reason, and their own intelligence. Some of these characters look around their universe and determine that there must be creator. Other characters look around their universe and determine that there is no evidence for a creator. Of course, you are the creator. Your universe is there because you decided... "let there be..." and you thoughtfully designed it. It could have taken you say... seven days.

No, it does not, since no-one at that time had any possible way of knowing that information. Fortunately, science does provide us with very clear evidence regarding the time early humans came into existence, and a good estimate of when the universe did so..

It take at least 200 million years for the earth to make GOLD:
11. The name of the first is Pison: that is it which compasseth the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold;
12. And the gold of that land is good: there is bdellium and the onyx stone.
The universe was actually made, not created.

No, it just says that God stretches it out like a curtain that shrinks and expands. I believe this is why Einstein figured space can be bent or the farthest point can come very close by worm holes. The Creator's interest in the Bible is not the earth, but the man on the earth and His plan to redeem that man by a Savior. Creating earths is not a problem for God, but getting man to accept His Savior that He sent is God's plan of redemption. Consider the universe - to God that must have been easy, but creating a being in His image that would love Him and listen to Him was important to God. He created us for His pleasure (Rev. 4:11) so we could please Him.

It is literally the 1st verse in the bible. You didn't have to look too hard.
1 In the beginning when God created[a] the heavens and the earth,
