What can I do to help an injured field mouse?

Hi, my cat brought in a mouse. I got the mouse away from her, but it couldn't run away because it appears his leg(s) was injured. I took the mouse outside and the cat followed me. My hope was quite honestly that the cat would end the mouse's suffering. I left them both in the grass. I came back tonight, and the mouse is in the same spot where I left it. It is still alert, but injured. I put him in a small box and added grass clippings, and a little bit of fruit, a cracker, and some water. Is there anything else I can do for this little guy? I feel so bad for him. I live in the Boise area.

There may be a DNR representative, but not sure they would help. Keep the food and water in the container and the cat away. Hopefully, whatever is injured will heal itself.
