i was supposed to run in a 16k today. they canceled at the last min due to covid. can i sue?

I highly doubt that cancelling was "last minute".
Who are you going to sue and what do you want to try to gain.
If there was an entry fee - it should be refunded.
Other than that - there is nothing to gain from a lawsuit over this cancellation.

Sue who ? The government has probably banned mass events so the run organizer will have no choice than to cancel or postpone the event. This is beyond his control and they should possibly refund your entry fee or organize another run at a later date , but even then they may have lost money on the event having paid for advertising etc and staff to Marshall the event.
