I paid cash for my first bike at 17, cash for my next one at 19, cash for my next one at 22, and cash for my next one at 26.  The third and forth were much more than $5k in today's dollars.

You can afford it.  You won't need to save for retirement anyway.

We can't be accurate, but you can.  The two top motorcycle insurance companies ( https://www.geico.com/ and https://www.progressive.com/ ) will give you quotes on-line.  You can do "what-if" and see the cost of insurance on a sporty vs. a cruiser.  The cost of a Ninja 250 will be about double of the cost of a Suzuki S40.

FYI, I had Progressive on my 652cc cruiser, got downsized to a 151cc scooter, and the insurance went up.  Saved $5 a year switching to Geico.

Are you talking about taking out a loan to pay for a bike?

Then the monthly amount would depend on how long the loan period is (12 months up to 60 months, or more) and what rate of interest is being charged.

Short answer:  About $300/mo.  more or less.

    From carinsurance.com:

"You will pay an average of $3,503 a year for car insurance if you are 19 years of age. That rate is for a policy with liability car insurance limits of 100/300/100 as shown below. Your specific rate depends on your residence, your driving record, type of car, the coverage limits and other factors."

    On this page are charts.
