Can two towns of the same name exist in the same state?

    There are two Red Hooks in New York. My daughter lived in one but once in a while mail lacking a zip code would go to the other.

    Sure. Here in the Netherlands we have several places called Beek, and several named Bergen

    No. The post office will change the name, if necessary to deliver the mail. Some towns in the past had some unsavory names, and the post office changed the name of the post office delivery and that changed the name of the town,

    No. States wouldn't allow that because of the potential for confusion.

    When the post office came along, towns with the same name were required to change their name to make them different so that mail between the two towns wouldn't get confused. But in the 1960s, ZIP codes came along, so I don't know that that applies anymore, not that new towns are being settled anymore.

    I'd say possibly, there are multiple towns with the same name in a different states, the same state could have two towns with the same name one could be a small town and one a bigger town.
