Very similar. If you only need phone and camera and apps, either will work just fine, depending on your personal preferences.

However, if many of your friends and family have iPhones, there are huge advantages of you also having one in terms of sharing, messaging, Airdrop, and more. Furthermore, if you also need a tablet, smartwatch, or PC, having an all-Apple ecosystem is the way to go. Everything just works and syncs together incredibly well.

The new iPhone XS, and iPhone XS Max. Likewise, Samsung offers the Galaxy S9, S9+, and Note 9. The primary differences between the Apple phones are screen size and battery life

iPhone is catching up to Samsung in terms of wireless charging, so that is no longer a difference unless you are looking at older iPhones.

The top levels phones are both excellent and it really comes down to personal preference. They have very similar features.

One feature that some people find very useful that the Galaxy has the iPhone don't is a microSD slot. The S20 can accept up to 1 TB card. For those that take a lot of video and pictures or store maps offline this can be very useful. But if you usually just store stuff online then it might not be something you care about.

Also no iPhone currently offers 5G. If you update regularly this might not be a big deal but if you keep a phone for many years this could become an issue.
