Native English speakers, could you please help me with these issues?

Does this sentence make sense:

"The Babylonians believed that the sky SENT homens."

    'Sent' is certainly the right tense, and there's nothing wrong with the choice of word either.

    But I think you mean 'omens'.Your sentence is clear enough, but it might be more natural to say, "The Babylonians believed that omens were sent from the sky".

    How about:

    “The Babylonians believed that humans came from the sky.”

    It’s omens. The Babylonians believed that the sky sent omens. 

    I personally would use meteors or comets instead of the sky because meteors and comets are only seen occasionally so when it’s seen, it’s either good luck or bad luck.
