He was injured last season and tried to play anyway. His poor performance was not due to age.

Roethlisberger would be playing as a 38 year old this year. Brees and Brady are older. He could have a couple of good seasons left, it's up to the rest of the Steelers to carry their weight. Tomlin has a bad habit of leaving ben the game when maybe he should come out even in defeat, not continue to play him until he is injured.

He's been on a pretty steady decline since 2014 so, yes, he's not only over the hill but well past it.

Brady, Rogers, Bree's. Three examples of QB's who started taking care of their bodies, their diets, before it was necessary, to prolong their careers. Big Ben is following the path of the previous generation of players. Eat, drink, and be merry and play as long as one can, without putting in anything extra. Yes, he is in his twilight.

From a playing career standpoint, yes. He is past his prime/peak. He's not at the bottom of the hill yet, but it's fast approaching.

He's 5 feet under the hill, one foot away.
