Did birds evolved from saurischian or ornithischian dinosaurs?

Hi there! Birds are actually more closely *related to*, and not necessarily evolved from, the saurischian dinosaurs. It’s confusing because “ornitho” means bird. Ornithischians or “bird hipped” dinosaurs are only called that because their hips resemble modern bird hips. But do NOT get resemblance confused with relatedness. Also, as someone already mentioned on here, it is quite possible birds and dinosaurs share an earlier common ancestor but birds did not evolve directly from saurischian dinosaurs. So make sure you understand that distinction. Hope that helps

Likely, the line leading to birds branched off before there WERE any dinosaurs. Otherwise, they would have had to lose one digit, then re-evolve it and lose another one. Google "Dollo's Law".

Do you know what the prefix "ornith-" means?
Edit: "- ischian" means "hip". Your point?

Evolution is for the birds. There is no supportive fossil evidence. The cambriam explosion cannot be explained by evolution. The complexity and variety of life did not arise from random mutations
