What are some good tips for learning Japanese?

I've been learning for a while but I'm kind of stuck.

Live in Japan or in a Japanese neighborhood.

Depends on what your situation, goals, and what you're specifically stuck on.

I learned French to competency (taught it), and Italian and German to an intermediate level.  Those were my goals. I learned Italian entirely on my own (using various resources, but no formal classes) and German almost entirely on my own.

I am still learning Japanese, very slowly, to an intermediate level.  It's my 4th foreign language, plus I also studied linguistics and phonology for my teaching degree in French.   I don't plan to be competent in Japanese any time soon (I'm 51 years old and have other goals at the moment).

I never left my country for learning any of them (just not practical for me and unnecessary for my goals).

I might have advice for you, depending on what you're looking for.

Little difficult when you don't give any information on what you are stuck on.  Best thing would be to find someone local who speaks Japanese.
