Thanks to President Eisenhower, we have the wonderful network of interstate roads that allow for easy transportation of people and goods between states all across the country.

If no one was hiring them, they wouldn't come. How would you propose replacing them for farm labor????

Many of them work in agriculture and there's a lot of that in the midwest.

Illegal aliens can pay their smugglers extra for transportation beyond their border crossing. Consider that anyone who can get across a border illegally can also move around once in the US, and they do! They may have contacts in US (e.g. relatives, friends, contacts), or pay smugglers extra (beyond border-crossing charges) to transport them elsewhere. Border areas, California, etc, got so overloaded with illegal aliens that their own population pressures have forced them to go elsewhere to try to find any money (work or otherwise) or places to live. By the 1990s, illegal aliens had spread throughout the US as there were simply far too many of them to get any sort of money or place to stay.

Legal immigrants of course go to their sponsor's home, wherever their immediate relative who sponsors them resides.

They go where the money is. There are farms in the Midwest. There is construction in the Midwest, so they go to the Midwest.
