Is foraging edible plants part of Cooking?

    Shopping -- Foraging, shopping -- is the getting the food.

    Chopping -- measuring, slicing, chopping -- having the food in bowls ready to cook.

    Cooking -- actually mixing/blending/cooking/baking.

    Some cooks like to use foraged food. Make sure you are allowed to forage where you go, and that you identify the plants correctly. Many poisonous plants closely resemble edible ones. Generally, if you live in GB, the Wildlife and Countryside Act permits taking foliage, fruit and fungi, but generally digging up wild plants is not permitted.

    I would consider  it a part of cooking. Some folks only eat what they forage.

    I would consider it preparation.  Do you consider going to the store to buy ingredients part of cooking?
