     Geography of India and Pakistan

India ‘“ occupies most of the subcontinent with territory stretching from Conchin on the Indian Ocean all the way to Srinagar in the Himalayas. To the west it abuts Pakistan in the Rajasthani desert and in the east it encircles Bangladesh and touches Burma. The total square mileage of India is 1,269,221.

Pakistan ‘“ used to have territory on both the east and west sides of India. It lost its eastern territory in 1971, which was then renamed Bangladesh. Pakistan now is the slice of arid land between India and Afghanistan with 340,403 square miles to its name.

India is a secular republic and Pakistan is a Muslim republic.

They both were part of British India until 14-15 of August 1947 when they were partitioned/ separated and given Independence.

There are regions they still dispute like in the mountains of Jammu and Kashmir.

They are two sovereign nations, with a common international boarder.

Each has its own Head of State, a President'. Each has its own capital city ; Islamabad (Pakistan) , New Delhi (India).

They have been in a 'Cold' war with each other for years.

They have different religions ; Islam (Pakistan), and Hinduism (India).
