Why do some Facebook groups ask you for what your interest in for joining them?

I decided to join a Facebook group, so it's now pending, but a box came up asking me what my interests are for joining the group.

Then underneath, it asked for what my favourite colour was. What has that got to do with anything?

I mean, why does it really matter? If you weren't interested in the group then you wouldn't want to join it anyway.

Not all of the groups do that. Some ask other questions and some if they ask you to join ask no questions.

The questions are to weed out bots and idiots that simply want to cause hassle within that group.

Sadly, YOUR understanding of what bots are is sadly lacking.

There's no need to be rude. I just didn't realise that bots were a problem for Facebook. Also, even the idiots can still type "oh yes I am interested in this/that" and still get onto the group. Jesus Christ!
