    I don't know of any number system where -7 > -4.

-4 is greater than -7 since -4 sits to the right on a conventional number line. For your example, then, -4 is a greater velocity than -7. (Or -4 is LESS NEGATIVE than -7 and therefore greater.)

On the other hand, if you are talking about SPEED (the magnitude of velocity), then you're comparing 4 to 7, and of course 4 < 7.

A speed of 7 is greater than a speed of 4 since 7 sits to the right of 4 on a conventional number line.

    Hope this helps!

    Velocity is speed and direction.

    -7= speed(7) and direction(-).

    -7>-4.
