Do you think it's racist for Donald Trump to call the Coronavirus a Chinese disease?

It wasn't helpful (like so many of the things he's done or failed to do with respect to this pandemic) but it wasn't necessarily racist.

I mean, he IS a racist - NO one will argue with THAT, least of all his racist supporters.  But that particular remark wasn't necessarily born of his racism.  All the flu's are named after countries, (except for unlucky avians and swine).

He can't help but be what he was in his twenties, and (among other things) that's a racist and a user of women.

No, He's only saying what diseases were always named after which is the places they originated from. People didn't think the (Spanish Flu) was bigoted against Spanish people even though the virus didn't originate in Spain. Zaire Ebolavirus,Marburg Virus etc. People need to grow a spine. Its not racist to call a disease based on where it came from.

It's kinda irresponsible and yes, some people may act racist/suspicious to East Asians after hearing these words.

Most people do not know how viruses originate and spread, much less that they can jump from one species to another and they do from time to time.

It's just by chance that the first infected were Chinese (it's also not that surprising considering that China is one of the most populated regions of the planet).

No. Chinese people deserve to be victims of racism, then only they would change their eating habits.

No. I do not. No more than when other viruses and diseases were named. Such as the Russian Flu, Hong Kong Flu, Spanish Flu, Asian Flu and German Measles.

Like calling Pearl Harbor a Japanese attack was racist?

I think the name Chinavirus is OK because that's the country that it originated in, like spanish flu originated in Spain, Russian Flu originated in Russia etc. What is racist is blaming the entire nation and calling them racist names and being hostile to chinese people because the disease originated in China.
