You can use a magnifying glass to start a fire as long you have something like newspapers to start the fire.

You can't light a gas stove with a magnifying glass.

A spark can cause a fire if there is combustibles like gas present.

You don't need a magnifying glass. Most forest or scrubland fires start from either a discarded cigarette or a dropped glass bottle that increases the heat of the sun.

Of course a magnifying glass would be quicker but not necessary
