Will koi fish mate with siblings ?
Took the cover off our pond to discover that one of out fish is very egg pregnant. Unfortunately all of our koi except one are siblings that were raised from fry together and id like to avoid inbreeding.
Will koi who have been raised together mate with eachother?

Well yeh, In the wild they would probobly swim so far away that the never encounter a brother or sister. But in an aquarium, or small pond, moms, babies fathers daughters, it can lead to deformed fry, but more frequently happens with live bearers.

Of course they will. Almost all animals do not see each other as siblings, or even mother and father. There comes a time when the kids grow, scents change, they reach sexual maturity, and that's all she wrote. They become strangers to each other and don't know what inbreeding even is; they mate when they have the chance, whether they are technically related or not.
