Some people say never service a CVT transmission.   WRONG !   Don't change the transmission oil and service it you will need a new transmission.

They are as good or better than most on the road. Honda has had 7 years producing their CVTs and they are pretty good if driven normally. If you plan on hard accelerations then avoid a CVT.

Good? The factory wouldn't have had to extend the CVT tranny warranty time if they were any good.

The assumptions on the CVT trannies was that everyone would drive their cars the same way Asian people drive their cars. Around town, short distances. Problem in the USA is we have Interstates where you can drive a thousand miles a day, almost non stop, if you wanted to do and those CVT's were not engineered for such driving. Some guys said the manufacturer says, "No service is required on your CVT". Same guys said you better service those CVT's every two years, give or take a year, depending on miles driven or it will die a premature death. Depends on how you use it.
