Because Asians and people coming from Asia areas flew into NYC airport, giving everybody this virus... it might stay in our body for LIFE.

Just don't smoke...    take cough medicine.

There was a large back-log of swabs that needed to be processed and a faster method of testing along with more equipment has allowed them to process through a lot of them.

So, there are a lot of cases from weeks past that are just being confrimed, now.

Densely populated, community spread, low testing. Florida is worse than NY, they just aren't taking it seriously.

They got more test kits. At first, there weren’t that many cases because there weren’t enough kits to test everyone, only those that show serious symptoms. Now that pharmaceuticals are making more kits available, there will be more new positive cases due to the backlog.

NYC is also one of the most visited and most crowded cities in the world so it’s easy for the virus to infect hundreds to thousands from just a few infected people. If you’ve ever been to Times Square, it’s near impossible to not have someone within a foot of you.

I have not seen the data on the spread, but I think the concentration of cases in NYC is easy to explain. People are in close proximity to each other, especially on the subway. I'd like to see some data on how many people with the virus rode the subway. From the patterns across the country, you can see that the rate is higher in the congested cities. This is one time when being alone in your car is the safest thing you can do.
