Not often at all. My Sony TV has some age on it and still works like new.

We have a 32 inch set bought in 2011, a 55 inch 3D TV bought in 2013, a 42 inch TV bought in 2015, and a 22 inch set in the kitchen from 2018.

As such, until and unless one of those fails, we have no further need of any more.

When the old one would need repairs costing more than 80% of the price of a new TV.

Rarely if ever --- my current tv is one a friend literally gave me over 5 years ago and my

previous one was bought off craigslist. Before that memory doesn't remember details.

I replace it only when the one I have stops working right, although I did add one a decade ago where we hadn't had one before.

So anywhere from ten to fifteen years.

I seem to be averaging about 1 every 15 years or so.

Last time I bought a new TV was in 2009, when everything went "digital".

As long as it continues to work, I see no point in buying anything newer.
