How do I tell a Facebook friend that she mispells “losing” as “loosing” and “dummies” and “dummy’s”?

Ironically, she criticizes people who are grammatically inept, thus the “dummy’s” posts.

Before you waste your effort on that endeavor, make sure that she isn't purposely misspelling the words for the sake of irony.  Or, use that premise as a segue.  Ask her whether she is misspelling those words purposely for the sake of irony.  That way, she has the opportunity to keep her dignity by claiming that she is doing so.  Then she can correct her mistakes without embarrassment.

Good friends help each other improve without public humiliation.

Sometimes it’s not that they don’t know how to spell but the language used by machine used. US or UK. Then issues with predictive text and auto correct.

If you can read and understand why bother.

If it really bugs you wait till she criticises someone then light heartedly raise issue.

if it bothers you that much then tell them about it in a private message or out in the open, whichever one you think would be appropriate. But if you can ignore it because you know what they're talking about anyway then...

Give it time, she'll pick up on it. Or 'correct' YOU when you spell it correctly. Which of course would be the perfect time to tell her she's wrong . . .  People do eventually pick up spelling mistakes on their own.

@tralala: You'd be wasting your time, because he has been using incorrect capitalization for many years.  Formerly, he would capitalize the first letter of every word.  Just be thankful that he only capitalizes the first letter of some words now.

I think we all need to stop being the Internet Grammar and Spelling Police and let things be.  She got her point across, and yes, she may be the IGSP on on other posts, but in the long run, it's not really that important, is it?

Accept the fact she's likely not going to take the feedback well.

Reply to her posts using the same words but correctly, don’t make it obvious that you’re correcting her. She will either learn that she was wrong or say that you’re wrong, if she does that then you can simply explain to her that she’s using the wrong words.
