Will you buy a surgical mask to protect yourself from the Coronavirus?

A surgical mask is not sufficient protection, you will need a N95 respirator. As a health care worker I can tell you that you will have a hard time wearing one of these for any extended period of time, it is hard to breathe through them, they must be fitted exactly;y right, we have special training in just how to fit the masks correctly,. I would say that if you are to come in contact with someone wit the virus, the mask would be a good thing, but for everyday life it is just not feasible.

No. They are uncomfortable.

Given experts have indicated they will not prevent you catching Covid-19, it would seem pointless.
These masks are useful in stopping aomeone who is infected (or suspected of incubating the disease) from spreading it further.

They’re sold out. Hospitals are running short on them. We do have a company in MN that makes them and they’ve stepped up production but other countries that make them are keeping for themselves, or can’t keep up with demand, or in China plants are closed or not exporting goods. Good luck getting hand sanitizer too.

I would if it started spreading where I live. I would also shave my beard. I read that helps.
