Peanut butter is actually pretty decent for you; it's packed with healthy fats and protein, but you have to be picky and get the good kind. Get peanut butters that have 2 ingredients- Peanuts and salt (or no salt, if you don't like that). Stay away from peanut butters that have oils, like palm oil in them (Jif and Skippy, for example). If you have a good blender or food processor, it's actually not that hard to make your own.

@F:  If you have a blender or a food processor, you can make your own peanut butter.  By the way, I see peanut butter WITHOUT palm oil on the shelves of several different chains of supermarkets all the time, so I'm not sure where YOU live.  Dime Box, Texas?  Bethel, Alaska?

Healthier than lard?  Most definitely, although there are lower fat foods available.

Healthier than what? Peanut butter whose ingredients are just peanuts is pretty healthy. It's protein. A serving size is 2 tablespoons, usually.

Most processed peanut butter has sugar in it and hydrogenated oils, which are not healthy at all.

Yes it is much healthier than drinking copious amount of alcoholic beverages (not as much fun though), eating raw sugar, smoking cigarettes, ad infinitum......

Healthier than what? It is generally good for you.  It's also not a complete meal in a jar, as some like to think. Americans - and not just Americans - go through who knows how many millions of pounds a year.
