    H[COH] is formaldehyde. It does not ionize.  It is neither an acid nor a base.

    It reacts with water this way:

    H(COH) + H2O → H2C(OH)2

    (I suspect this is the result of some sort of typo, maybe it should have been "H[COOH]" which is formic acid and ionizes like this:

    H(COOH) → H{+} + HCOO{-}



    LiOH → Li{+} + OH{-}

    When you draw the pictures, be sure to include "H2O" along with the ions.
