How do i find the stripping gas stream composition when doing a chemical engineering column design?
Hi i am trying to design a stripper column which removes CO2 using MEA. I have my feed going in but not sure how to find the composition of stripping gas i will need?

Many systems that collect CO2 with MEA want to keep the CO2 pure. So a stripping column is used, with a reboiler in the bottom to heat the MEA and drive off relatively pure CO2 for recovery without a stripping gas that would dilute the CO2. The heat is needed because CO2 chemically combines with MEA and that heat has to be added back to the MEA-CO2 compound to release the CO2.
MEA is also used in to separate CO2 by pressure swing adsorption. The gas stream is added to the MEA under pressure, and the CO2 adsorbs into the liquid. The MEA-CO2 mix is then put into a lower pressure vessel where the CO2 gases off. Again, no stripping gas so the CO2 can be collected in the pure form.

You need to ask on a spcialist chemical engineering board. Try this: https://www.cheresources.com/invision
(You'll need to register.)
