Is it okay to believe in something even if you deep down know it doesn't exist?

Well, what I believe in, I'm quite sure I have concrete evidence that it exists.
With the exception of God. I believe in God but don't have evidence He exists - however I believe that God is a supernatural entity. I believe in the supernatural, something that has been partially proven to exist.

Why would you do that?
If what you say you believe is a lie and you 'know it', aren't you lying to yourself?
The better question is how do you know that 'it' doesn't exist?
Or are you just trying to convince yourself of a lie because it suits the way you want to live? Lying to yourself that God doesn't exist won't change the fact that He does.
If you live your life in contradiction to reality, you are only conning yourself.

No. Why go through life knowing the fact(s) and fighting against it? It's like you know you can walk, but you force yourself using a wheelchair. What kind of life is that? Respect yourself and accept the fact(s). Be true to yourself.

If something requires "belief" then I know it's bullsh!t and I throw it out.

God the All Creator, including yourself.

It's okay to believe anything, as long as your actions don't cause undue harm.

It's not that it isn't "okay". It's that it isn't possible. One contradicts the other.

You're not making sense. It's impossible to *believe in* something you KNOW doesn't exist. The most you can do is to conform.Source(s): Greek Orthodox Christian
