Isn't a manual car with a clutch pedal dangerous, because you’re concentrating on changing gears, rather than concentrating on the road?

No because once your used to it it’s natural I don’t give it a second thought I know my car I know when I need to change gear through various reasons and I know where my gears are I just do it takes no concentration it’s just natural

And that is why you learn with a manual. And if you can't train your brain to properly use a clutch? Then stay far away. And stick to your automatics or electrics.

Not at all! Once you learn what your doing it becomes automatic and you do not even think of it any more!

Not at all. I learned to drive (at 16) with a stick shift.

It becomes instinctive once learned. As opposed to texting while driving...

After a relatively short amount of time, it becomes totally natural and I wouldnt consider it any more of a distraction than the radio.

You don’t look at the shifter at all when you’re shifting as soon as you figure out where the different gears are when you’re first learning. Yes some stick shift knobs have those little diagrams on them but we don’t really look at them except in the very beginning. Like during the first hour of learning how to drive maybe

You also don’t have to look down at your feet once you’ve learned how to walk, do you? So....

With a manual, you watch the road just like you would with any other type of transmission.

In my opinion manual transmissions with foot clutch are safer and it’s too bad more people don’t drive them, because you concentrate more on the act of driving when you have to operate a clutch and move a shift lever, Especially if you rev match, double clutch, heel/toe, etc. when you’re downshifting.

You use your left leg as well. Not just your right leg as with an automatic. And your right hand (or left hand with right hand drive) is doing more than just holding the steering wheel, it’s also operating the shift lever when you’re shifting.

So more of your brain and your extremities are involved across the board.

You also use your ears to listen to the engine, figuring out the right time to shift which you don’t do with an automatic.
