What is an amendment with its correct explanation that has extended civil liberties to individuals in the U.S.?

a. 8th Amendment: freedom of speech

b. 5th Amendment: freedom from unreasonable searches and seizures

c. 1st Amendment: right to privacy

d. 4th Amendment: freedom from unreasonable searches and seizures

e. 21st Amendment: repeal of the 18th Amendment (the Prohibition Amendment outlawing the manufacture, sale, or transportation of intoxicating liquors in the U.S.)

    None of the above.

    The answer would be the 14th Amendment, which among other things, stated that all Constitutional rights guaranteed to the people also apply at the State and local level too.

    PS...the 8th Amendment has nothing to do with free speech. The 1st Amendment has nothing to do with the right to privacy. And the 5th Amendment has nothing to do with searches and seizures.
