Is it ok to eat bread two weeks past expiration date?

I have some bread in the pastry, unopened, that said it expired 2 weeks ago. Is it safe to eat or should I throw it out?

    I think you mean pantry.

If you don't see any signs of mold, it might still be ok. If taste is off though, throw it out.

You can keep eating it and just check for mould each time you open the bag.

Some bread lasts for weeks, others go mouldy even within date.

First of all~~ THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS AN EXPIRATION DATE!!! The date you see is a 'best by' date. It is there ONLY so that if you eat bread, or any food that is not up to standard, you cannot come back on the manufacturer for it. That is the only reason the stupid thing is there. So~~ when you have a food item that you are wondering about, just use common sense- is it mouldy? Is it rotten? Is it wet when it should be dry? Does it smell bad? Common sense will tell you when to throw food away; not that stupid date on the package. That date is the reason so much food is wasted on this planet, when so much could go towards ending starvation.

The date is a "best by, Use by, freshest by" date NOT an expiration date.

As long as the bread is not moldy you can use it.  Even if it is dry and stale you can still find a use for it.

Bread is safe to eat MONTHS after the expiry/best before date.

There is no such thing as expiration dates on food.  It does not say it expires on that day, it will say something like "best before".

And how do you think we did it before food came with dates?  Use your senses, that's how.  If it still seems OK to you, then of course you can eat it.

And how do you have bread in pastry?

It's likely fine.  The expiration date is almost certainly a best before date.

    Check if it is moldy.

If there's no mold and it doesn't stink you can eat it. It's not a going off date, it's when they need to sell it by so it stays fresh for a reasonable time, they can't say exactly when it will go off because how it's stored can change how long it is. There was talk of getting rid of dates in the UK because so much food it wasted, it was a good idea to do that but it seems to have gone by the by, we still have the dates.
