Why do we study so much of history in our social science classes?

knowing things, having information is more valuable than currency. in fact in this technological age, information IS currency. knowing what happened and what came before, helps you understand what's going on now and make more informed choices. wouldn't you like to know that the person you like, has a history of kleptomania or drug abuse? that the man you like for POTUS (Biden) has a history of plagiarism?

Those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it.

We can learn what happened years ago and try to do better this time. Wehrmacht generals in 1941 spent a lot of time reading Napoleon's Russian diaries.
