Can someone with an honorary ThD degree or LLD degree officiate weddings?
If someone has an honorary doctorate of theology in music or has an honorary doctorate of laws and letters, can they officiate a marriage.
The degrees were awarded by a small liberal arts college that normally does not grant doctoral degrees. They were awarded in exchange for singing at a fundraising benefit function for the college, which is strapped for cash and awarded them I think in leiu of payment for her services.
What authority would these degrees give. Would the ThD count as ordination?

no, they can not. Ordination requires the active conferment of a legally recognized church, acting under authority granted by it's bylaws and its board of directors
