    Favorite Answer

For eating I like Gala, Fuji and Pink Lady. Also any of these for making Apple Crisp

For making apple pie or fresh hot chunky applesauce, nothing but Granny Smith will do.

    I occasionally eat McIntosh apples.

I never buy Red Delicious, Yellow Delicious, or Spartan.

Red and golden delicious seems too bland to me.  Gala, Fuji and Macintosh are nice and tart and go well with peanut butter.  Honeycrisps used to be nice and sweet but seem too tart lately.

The best apple I have ever had was a Snow apple, almost impossible to buy. Next to that, I'll take a McIntosh. Most of the ones you can usually get in stores these days are too sweet and have a yucky texture.

Fujis have been ruined.  They are now mealy.

I prefer honeycrisp or pink ladies.

That being said, I think it's ridiculous I live in the apple state (Washington) and apples are $3/pound.     Bananas...still $.59/pound.
