European countries have territories in the Southern Hemisphere (French islands, etc.), so one could argue that Europe extends to all four hemispheres as well.

Strictly speaking you cannot have four hemispheres. The normal hemispheres refer to northern and southern latitudes; that is, above or below the equator. Africa most definitely qualifies as the equator cross the continent.

Sometimes, the word hemisphere is used to refer to longitude, whether a place is east or west of the prime meridian. Again, Africa qualifies as the prime meridian runs down Africa and several African countries time zone is UTC.

So, yes, parts of the continent of Africa are in the northern hemisphere and parts in the southern. Likewise, parts are in the eastern hemisphere and parts in the western.

That is only if you base the hemispheres on the prime meridian and the equator.

Basically a true statement...Parts of Africa lie north and south of the Equator and parts of Africa lie East and West of the Prime Meridian.

You cant have 4 hemisphere. The maximum number of hemispheres you can have is two, both being half a sphere, and combined forming an entire sphere

The globe is divided into hemispheres in two different directions.  Both north/south and east/west.
The post is about the fact that Africa crosses both dividing lines for whichever pair of hemispheres you're looking at.

By definition, that can only occur near two specific places on a globe.  The intersection of the Equator and either the Prime Meridian or the Antimeridian (or "International Date Line"). One is near Africa, the other is in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.

Though technically speaking, no part of Africa is in both the Western AND Southern Hemispheres - as the 0.0, 0.0 point lies out at sea in the Gulf of Guinea.  But the continent does wrap around the point enough that it meets your description.
