Harvard will consider applicants with GEDs rather than standard high school diplomas, but it will want to see clear evidence that they can handle the academic demands. That will mean, in part, excellent scores on admissions exams.

In addition, someone with a GED is going to have to stand out notably in various ways -- background, unusual life experiences, impressive accomplishments, interesting and intriguing activities or travel. If you have a GED but you've published a novel (not self-published it) or appeared in a film or on the theatrical stage, lived in Nepal, learned languages few other people know -- anything like that -- Harvard will give you a close look.
