How much does a gym cost for a year?

This one's asking $440/year. It has a swimming pool and open 24 hours.

Is this a good deal or too much?

Seems reasonable. The gym close to me charges more than that and it doesn't have a pool and its a tiny gym but it really depends on what you are going to use. If you are going to use the pool then go ahead and get the membership. If you are going to run on the treadmill then skip the membership and run outside. If you are interested in lifting weights you might want to consider buying your own because the equipment will pay for itself but on the other hand if you don't have the space for equipment at home then the gym is the way to go. You cant look at price alone.

How much it costs depends on various factors such as where you live, the size of the facility, the features they offer, etc. One with a pool is likely going to cost more than one without a pool because there is additional cost involved in pool upkeep and insurance. $440/yr is less than $37/mo, which is not a bad deal for a decent gym with a pool. The gyms in my area do not have pools and run $10 - $40 or so a month (or higher).

That's way way too much. Your 2 mainline full service commercial gyms La Fitness and 24 Hour Fitness only cost about $30/month or $230/year. And they have a pool, sauna, hot tub, classes, etc. Much higher than that and you're getting screwed. Like how sometimes a meal costs $2 million just because they put a 1.9 million diamond in your omelette.

Often, unnecessary decor. I've seen an Anytime Fitness where you get your own, closed door bathroom and shower with fluffy towels and scented candles, etc. That explains why it cost $300+/year.
