Does anyone else think those car headlights that are a bluish tint are blinding to oncoming traffic....?

....How were they approved or made legal?

    Yes.  They're too bright.

Those bluish colored lamps are High Intensity Discharge (HID) lamps that put out a much brighter white light than the older Halogen bulbs.  They are legal because even though they appear to be blue, they still project a white light.  If they blind oncoming traffic in use, then they are not properly aimed, and the driver COULD get a ticket.

Some MORONS buy colored lamps that are NOT legal for highway operation just because they think they are "cool". If you see a car that projects green, purple, dark blue or other unusual colored light, they're probably NOT LEGAL.

Uh, many of them are not legal and not approved. Just because you can install them does not make it okay to blind people coming the other direction.

No one is going to mistake them for highbeams, but they are glaring and harsh on the eyes.

Going head on with blind people is not so great.
