Any fad diet will make you lose 10 lbs. in the first week to 10 days and that will be mostly excess water weight. Limit your diet to smaller portions, get more active, drink lots of water and get lots of sleep.

If you are serious about sticking to a diet you can get it done in 3 months. You should also be doing strength and cardio training. You will need to follows an eating plan and monitor your progress. A reasonable plan would be 0.8 grams protein per pound of target weight, 0.5 grams fat per pound of target weight and 60 grams of carbs (mostly vegetables). Based on 165 pounds this would be :
Protein: 130 grams 520 Cal
Fat: 80 grams 720 Cal
Carbs: 60 grams 240 Cal
TOTAL: 1480 Cal
If you would still be overweight at 165 use a lower target weight or even your estimated 0% fat lean weight to calculate grams of protein and fat. To maintain weight after losing the fat you should be able to increase total calories by at least 1000.

As long as it takes. Seriously, there's no way anyone here can tell you how long it will take YOU to lose it. It could be a couple of months, a year, years. It all depends on what you do to lose it...what changes you make in your lifestyle to encourage the excess fat to be burned for energy. Start by making some changes to your diet (what you eat is 80% of why you weigh what you do, whether you are overweight or not). Add some regular exercise, especially cardio, to get some additional calorie burn to lose the fat faster than just doing it by diet alone.

It depends on a lot of factors, but a healthy and reasonable FAT loss rate is 1-2 pounds a week, So, between 11 and 22 weeks (3 months or more).
If you follow a healthy, calorie-deficit, low-carb diet, where you are in a calorie deficit of 500-1,000 calories a day, you'll start burning fat. How many calories that is for you depends on your activity level. You can use a TDEE calculator (look online) that will give you a pretty accurate estimate if you are honest about your activity level. You can use a BMR calculator to determine the low-end of your calories needs. If you calculate the BMR of your goal weight (165) and eat that many calories a day, you'll definitely be in a calorie deficit and you'll lose weight.
What you eat and when you eat are also important. Select an eating plan you can stick with based on your willingness to follow the rule, your food preference, your cooking skills, and your budget. Focus on quality.
Exercise also plays a role. Getting daily exercise will help you burn more calories. That noted, diet is 80% of weight loss and maintenance, so you can't continue to overeat and exercise the weight off.

If you do it in 6 months, that's great.

It shouldn't take more than 3 months if you're dedicated.
