Why do we dream in our mother language?

I don't - I dream in English and most of my dreams are wordless - My mother tongue is Chinese

Good question. I have never thought of this question before. Are you sure that this is true? If so, then maybe it brings comfort to the dreamer. Also with the child's mind are the earliest memories of Life, and we all carry those memories with us through out our entire lives. So when dreaming, the mind delves into the truth, but can we as adults see the truth?

We don't always do so, but tend to do so because that is the language we understand best.

maybe cause we're more used to that language

Because it IS our mother language... But a good sign of attaining fluency in another language is dreaming in another language. (Can you guess what language(s) I sometimes dream in?
