I want to uninstall Internet Explorer but I can't find where to do this. I have W.7 Professional and have looked on Computer Control?
but can't find it. Will it show as Internet Explorer, or something else?
Information post W.7 advises IE is uninstalled as it's a 'black hole' for hackers? Big notice on one of the major Bank websites this am. Presumably if it's not done, and you are hacked, they won't refund money stolen!!?
From the article How to survive...
- Uninstall the Microsoft Internet Explorer browser. It's a huge security hole. Download Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox instead.
I have Chrome and Firefox installed, and almost never go into anything via IE.

While Internet Explorer cannot truly be uninstalled from your computer, disabling it will prevent it from opening things like HTML documents and PDFs. Internet Explorer was replaced by Microsoft Edge as the default browser on Windows 10 computers. As such, Internet Explorer should rarely (if ever) open by default.

IE is build into Windows and used for more than just browsing the Internet. It is also part of Files Explorer, for example.
If you could find a way to remove it, Windows would stop working. It is that integrated into the system.
A hacker can not hack you through IE unless you use it to go to the Internet. Switch you default browser to Chrome or something else, and stop using IE. Issue resolved.
If you are using Windows 10, go out and download the new version of Edge that is build on the Chromium kernel. The same thing that powers the Chrome browser. Set is as your default and you do not have to worry about IE issues any more.

You can't. IE is part of the OS.

The IE browser is part of the Windows operating system. Some software can not be downloaded w/o it so leave it and use a different browser like the Brave browser or Firefox.

Or better yet, replace your now obsolete Windows 7 computer. It was end of lifed by Microsoft last month, and is no longer receiving any security patches.
You don't need to uninstall it, you just need to never open it again. Use Chrome instead. (However, that will only work until next year when Chrome stops supporting Windows 7)

Control Panel > Programs and Features > Add/remove Windows features
on left column.

Go to Control Panel, Programs and Features, Turn Windows Features on or off (wait for it), uncheck Internet Explorer. Restart Windows if asked to.

You can't uninstall IE - it's built into windows.
The only thing you can do is delete the icons for it, and install a better browser like Firefox or Chrome.
IE (or 'Edge' as they call it now) is handy have every once in a while - I sometimes run across websites that don't open properly in Firefox/Chrome (usually poorly written websites belonging to city/county code departments - but I have to use them to upload files).
It's also good to have multiple browsers on a machine, because if one of them has a problem, you can download files to fix or reinstall it with another one.
