Native English speakers, could you please help me with these issues?
Is this sentence correct:
"If you join a 'a' TO 'put', you get a swear word in my native language."

If you join 'an' a to 'put' you get a swear word in my native language.
'an' is always put before a word beginning with a vowel. Vowels are a,e,i,o,u. as in an umbrella, an apple, an ignorant man, an ostrich, an everlasting belief.
