Flipping a penny and a dime are independent events. What is the probability of both being heads? I make that as P(penny=heads) * P(dime=heads) = 1/2 * 1/2 = 1/4

Of the choices given, the first one is p(A or B), not p(A and B). The last one is, too.

The second choice is not true in the general case. Counterexample is the penny and dime.
