Is Medicare for retired people only?
What about Medicaid too?

Medicare is available through a Federally-funded program to everyone over the age of 65, retired or not, and no matter how great their income. .
Medicaid is available through State and Federal assistance programs only to low-income families who don't have private health insurance or who can't afford to buy health insurance or who are disabled. If you're on Medicaid, you will be billed for a portion of your medical bills.
You can't be on Medicare and Medicaid both at the same time.

Medicare is the government funded medical insurance program for people aged 65 and older. It's a federal program, and it is overseen by the Centers for Medicare Services, which is a branch of the Department of Health and Human Services.
Medicaid, on the other hand, is funded by a partnership between the individual states and the federal government. It is a medical insurance program for the poor and for people with disabilities. Every state has its own requirements for qualification for Medicaid. Some states also use Medicaid to fund services provided by state agencies.

Medicare is available at age 65: you do not have to be retired. Medicaid you must qualify for as others have stated.

Medicaid is for people who are at poverty level income. Medicare is for people who are at retirement age. Some people at retirement age have both Medicare and Medicaid. Why? Because some people receive social security benefits that are so low, it takes them down to poverty level income.
Not the greatest news, but it's true in a lot of cases. At least they have their medical needs taken care of. People deserve good medical.

If you are a legal resident, most folks qualify for Medicare, by attaining the age of 65.
Those on medicaid are usually low income, poor, unhealthy, disabled or lazy.
Did you know there is about 18 million more on medicaid than on Medicare??
